A 33 year-old woman pushing a double buggy with her children in it was assaulted and robbed on Friday afternoon on Ferry Road Avenue.

She was walking along the street about 4.30pm on Friday 16 December 2016 and stopped to look after her children when she was assaulted by two men. She fell to the ground and they stole her handbag from the handle of her buggy before running off.

The woman has a facial injury as a result of the attack and was treated at the scene by Scottish Ambulance Service.

Although her children were unharmed she was left in a distressed state. Her handbag was a Primark Atmosphere faux leather bag with a sloping top,Ā suede on both sides and a gold bar. The bag contained a number of baby feeding items and a four figure sum in cash.

Police officers are keen to trace the suspects.

The first suspect is described as male white, athletic build, late teens to early twenties and is around 5ft 5ā€ to 5ft 9ā€ in height.
He was wearing a dark hooded top with dark jogging bottoms and two-tone Nike Air Max trainers. He was also wearing a dark face covering.

The second suspect was also male white, in his late teens to early twenties, slim build and is around 5ft 4ā€ to 5ft 8ā€ in height.Ā  He was also wearing a dark hooded top.

Detective Constable Gavin Howat of Edinburgh CID’s Violence Reduction Unit said:Ā  “This was a cowardly attack on a woman with her two young children.

“Thankfully she only sustained a minor injury and her children were unharmed, nevertheless she has been left extremely distressed by this incident.

ā€œWe believe that two young men in their late teen to early twenties are responsible for this attack and we are eager to trace them.

ā€œI would ask that anyone who has any information about this attack, or who was in the Ferry Road Avenue area on Friday 16th December around 4-5pm and saw the incident take place, or who saw anyone acting supiciously to please get in touch with us immediately.ā€
