Bailie Elaine Aitken was on hand to take delivery of the castle and bring it back to the City Chambers. It is a sponge cake with buttercream filling and the buildings are made of rice krispie treats. 100 eggs were used to bake it and 10kg of icing sugar!
Bailie Aitken said at the store opening last weekend :  ā€œThe new Oak Furniture Land store is a welcome investment in terms of job creation, and is a nice addition to the choice of shops for local residents.

“I am delighted to be opening the new superstore and I wish them every success for the future.  The Edinburgh Castle cake donation is a wonderful gesture to support and highlight the One City Trust, established in 2003 from the Lord Provostā€™s Commission on Social exclusion.

“The Trust fulfils its mission by funding projects in areas of the city which tackle inequality and poverty and support social welfare, education and social inclusion. To find out more about the Trust or support with a donation visit www.onecity.org.uk.
