The star name of this year’s Festival is undoubtedly the boy frae Angus, Alan Cumming.
His Scottish accent has not left him even after living for so long in New York, and it shines through in his singing. And his singing is very good.
He is well known for playing the viciously scheming Eli Gold in The Good Wife, but it was his Broadway stint in Cabaret that has led him towards this cabaret show which he has performed around the world. Recently he sold out Carnegie Hall with it and now it is here in the Capital for three weeks.
Edinburgh, we only heard him sing one number this evening (twice, flawlessly) but if you have tickets for this show then count yourselves very lucky indeed.
He is an actor writer and activist as well as a Tony and Olivier award winner, and a very welcome starry addition to the line up at this year’s Edinburgh International Festival.
Charmingly we spotted his wee dog Lala in the audience ahead of him coming on stage (not sure if she stayed for the mini show!)
We believe the whole run is sold out but you can always enquire at The Box Office! More details here.
