Police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old man under the Misuse of Drugs Act after local officers noticed a vehicle parked on zig-zag lines on North High Street, Musselburgh on Wednesday.

Upon speaking to the driver, they recovered a quantity of cannabis and cocaine and a  further quantity of the drugs was traced at an address in Prestonpans, with a total street value of around £2,000.

The 24-year-old will appear at court at a later date.

Sergeant John Forrester, of Haddington Police Station, said: “This response from our officers shows we have a zero tolerance approach to drugs in our community.

“These officers were responding to a separate incident when they noticed a vehicle parked illegally, and they were aware this is a local concern.

“We understand issues like this are important to our community, and we want to send out a clear message that we will tackle these issues.

“If anyone has information related to drug crime in their area, please contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
