Hibs’ Head Coach Alan Stubbs believes that the international break has given his players a chance to switch off mentally from the rigours of a hectic few months and recharge their batteries for the remainder of the season.

Hibs face an incredible nine games in April including a William Hill Scottish cup semi-final against Dundee United at the National Stadium although promotion to the top flight is the ultimate objective.

Rangers will almost certainly be crowned champions and now the fight is on for second place which will allow the winners a break before the play-off semi finals.

Falkirk are currently in pole position with a six point lead although Hibs have three games in hand and the clubs meet at Easter Road in two weeks time.

Hibs travel to Paisley today to face St Mirren.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Stubbs said: “I’m hoping that the rest will have done the trick for the players and has given them the chance to reflect and switch off and spend a little bit of time with their families and have a few days away to recharge the batteries, more mentally than physically.

“Having the days off was never going to affect them from a physical point of view but I think psychologically it will have done them the world of good.

“April will be busy but it will be an exciting month as well. we have a really important end of the season and it can be a very positive one.

“You’re getting to the stage of the season now where all the hard work in the previous months is coming to fruition, and it gives you the opportunity to achieve.

“It’s what we want to look to do. We want to get back on track again, we want to get the performance levels back to the levels that we had seen for lots of the previous weeks and months and we want to end the season as strong as we have been this season.”
