Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Forbes Road which  happened around 10.25 am yesterday when the suspect demanded money at knife point from a man who had just given him a lift from Yeaman Place in his red Renault Trafic van.

As he dropped him off in Forbes Road, the suspect pulled out a knife and demanded money.

He took a two-figure sum of cash and left in the direction of Bruntsfield Place.

He is described as being around 30 years old, white, around 6 ft tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark jacket with a white stripe on the sleeve and dark jeans.

Officers are now asking anyone who has information that can assist them with their inquiries to please get in touch.

Detective Constable Joyce Gunderson from Corstorphine CID said: “Thankfully the van driver was not injured during this robbery but he was left understandably shaken.

“We are pursuing various lines of inquiry to trace the man responsible and we are keen to hear from anyone who can assist us in identifying him.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us by calling 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
