Dean Park Primary School

Public Consultation Event today

Edinburgh Leisure September offer

Primary School consultation

We had a great time at Dalry Primary School on Monday when the school choir sang the new school song for the first time in a public setting – their playground on a gloriously sunny afternoon. The school is diverse and headteacher Grant Gillies is proud of that fact explaining that there are about 23 languages spoken by his pupils.

Here they are giving it all they’ve got!

Yesterday Dean Park Primary School choir sang at the launch of the Harlaw Hydro Project. Minister for Business Energy and Tourism Fergus Ewing flipped the switch and set the hydro working. If you are interested in knowing how much energy it is producing then you can click here.

Here is our video of the opening ceremony at Harlaw Reservoir on a beautiful sunny morning.

Today Taylor Wimpey are holding a public consultation event today at Queensferry High School between 4.30 and 8.00pm. Their consultation relates to the land at South Scotstoun. The local community council do not back this application which they feel guesses what the new Local Development Plan might say when it is finally signed off. At present the CIty of Edinburgh Council’s Local Development Plan is with The Scottish Government for ‘examination’.

A statutory consultation to tackle primary school capacity and accommodation pressures in south Edinburgh has begun.

The consultation  covers the three primary school catchment areas covered by Bruntsfield, James Gillespie’s and South Morningside Primary Schools which have traditionally experienced pressure on places.

The Deanbank Resource Centre and adjacent Oaklands Care Home on Canaan Lane have been identified as having the potential to allow a possible solution. The statutory consultation outlines three options for using either part or all of the combined site:

1. establish a new primary school;

2. increase the capacity of South Morningside Primary School; or

3. maintain and improve the existing accommodation arrangements at all three schools.
