Hibs’ Head Coach Alan Stubbs admitted his players were not at their best during yesterday’s win over bottom placed Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena but he praised his defenders for keeping another clean sheet and also on-loan Celtic star Liam Henderson for his superb free kick which secured the valuable three points.

Henderson who has quickly become a fans’ favourite for his skill and work rate scored for the second game running having opened the scoring last against Alloa Athletic last Saturday.

The result sees Hibs move to within two points of second placed Falkirk although they remain nine points behind Rangers with a game in hand.

After the game Stubbs said: “For me on the touchline I would like to be a little more relaxed.

“We could have been 3-0 up at halftime but the reason why we won today was our ability to keep a clean sheet, and that gives the lads confidence.

” I don’t think we were at our fluent best but there are more ways to win a match. You can’t win every game three or four nil.

“The free kick was a goal worthy of winning any game. He (Liam Henderson)  has been doing that for the last 10 days in training. I was delighted to see it but I wasn’t surprised.”
