Police are investigating following a hate crime in the Gilmerton area.

The incident occurred overnight in Gilmerton Dykes View between Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3, when an unknown person painted graffiti of a racist nature on a Silver Toyota Prius.

The incident was reported to police this morning.  Officers are now appealing for information regarding this incident.

Howdenhall Community  Inspector Euan Smith said:  “Police Scotland treats hate crimes with the utmost seriousness.”

“This type of incident is absolutely unacceptable in our community and I’d urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or has information which can help with our enquiries, to come forward.”
