Two men have been arrested and stolen property has been recovered as Operation RAC continues within Edinburgh.

On 14th March this year officers responded to an address in Ferry Road following a report of males climbing on the roof of a garden shed.

Enquiries continued into this incident and a 16-year-old male was detained and charged yesterday (Tuesday).

Another man was also arrested in Ferniehill Place yesterday for warrant offences relating to previous housebreakings across the city.

He will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

In addition to the arrests, Edinburgh’s dedicated housebreaking officers recovered a valuable coin collection from a Nissan Qashquai, which had been stolen during a break-in to a home in Howdenhall Drive sometime between the 11th and 12th May.

The coins were identified as being stolen property from another housebreaking at an address in Queens Crescent on 13th May.

Police are continuing with their investigation to trace those responsible for these offences.

The recovered coins are valued at around ÂŁ1,000.

Chief Superintendent Mark Williams, Divisional Commander for Edinburgh said: “Tackling housebreaking is my top priority and every day we arrest more offenders and return stolen property to its rightful owners.

“Our relentless pursuit of housebreakers will continue and anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity in or around a home or business should contact police immediately.

“I would also urge the public to ensure their properties are always appropriately secured and to visit our website at www.scotland.police.uk for helpful advice on crime prevention.”
