The good thing about being at the Edinburgh count is that there are some pretty influential figures here as this is where the national figures will be collated and announced later.

The Edinburgh Reporter met up with two veterans of British politics over the last half century, Lord David Steel who was a  member of the very first Scottish Parliament in 1999 to 2003, and Sir Menzies Campbell who is the LibDem MP for North East Fife. Both Liberal Democrats their role here tonight is as observers.

They were delighted to share their views on what might happen in the event of a Yes or a No vote.
