Hibs boss Terry Butcher says his players are hurting following Saturday’s Scottish Cup exit but everyone must now pull together to move up the table into the top six.

Speaking to Hibernian TV, Butcher said: “We had a frank and open discussion on Monday about the game and how we can move forward. We have to look forward now – we’ve let a lot of people down and the boys were hurting a lot.

“The fans are hurting as well – we’re in this together and we have to make sure we come out of it together.

“We had a good discussion and the boys were very honest about it. They held their hands up and through that honesty we have to move forward.

“We have to get back to what we were doing; we were resilient and tough to beat in those early days, but that toughness is gone and there are a lot of things missing from our game, which we know.

“We’ve got to get them back and we will do that through hard work and applying ourselves even more.

“Everybody – players and staff – needs to regroup and come back stronger.

“Our season now is nine games, 14 after the split. Each game is our own Cup Final and each game is an opportunity to pay back a lot of people.

“We need to show we are good players, that we are a good team and that we are all together in this.

“Our aim and ambition is to get as many points as possible in order to get into the top six.”
