The Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh was appointed in May 2012 from the ranks of Labour councillors. The council is actually run by a coalition of Labour and SNP councillors and they share Convener and Vice Convener posts.

In the Council Leader’s view there was no one better than Councillor Donald Wilson to take up the role of Lord Provost and it is true to say that the Rt Hon Donald Wilson just loves his job! He represents the Sighthill/Gorgie Ward as well as being the Lord Lieutenant and civic head of the city.

The Edinburgh Reporter met up with him to record a a series of interviews and this is the first. In this one he relates the story of his first three days in office.
