One year to the Scottish Independence Referendum – Independence Rally -Tram fares announced – Trams slated in Grand Theft Auto  – This week at the Cameo

There is a March and Rally for Scottish Independence this Saturday 21 September 2013. Scottish Greens Co-Convenor Patrick Harvie will be speaking at the rally in support of independence, and a list of the speakers is on the organisation’s website here. The compere will be Elaine C Smith.

The 2013 Rally for Scottish Independence, to be held on Sat, 21 September 2013, is the second of three events to be held in support of Scottish Independence.

11 AM – 12PM: ASSEMBLE  AT THE HIGH STREET, EDINBURGH

MID-DAY:  DEPART/MARCH TO CALTON HILL – click here for route info

1PM till 4PM:  RALLY

Last year,  a successful first March and Rally took place from The Meadows in Edinburgh to the iconic location of Princes Street Gardens where approx. 10,000 participants gathered to listen to key speeches and enjoy music from varied performers.

This year, the event will be held on top of Calton Hill in Edinburgh. The route of the March to Calton Hill takes in the iconic HighStreet, North Bridge, Waterloo Place and Calton Hill itself.

The council chose today to announce that the tram fares will be largely the same as the bus fares except that the fare from the airport will be higher than the bus fare. However there is an £8 fare from the airport which will allow the passenger to use the tram from the airport and then buses and trams across the city for the rest of the day.

And while we’re on the subject of the trams, Deadline News reckon that Rockstar North who have just released Grand Theft Auto V have taken a pop at Edinburgh Trams.

The makers of worldwide hit video game GTA V have turned their guns on Edinburgh’s long-delayed and massively overspent trams system.

Rockstar North, whose Edinburgh offices have been hit by tram-related roadworks, released the game to international acclaim just after midnight on Tuesday.

But it has now emerged that the Scots team take a vicious sideswipe at the trams project in GTA V.
