Police in Edinburgh have confirmed that an incident, which took place at a chemist shop on the Royal Mile this evening has been resolved.
Staff and members of the public had been prevented from leaving the building, and police responded to ensure the situation was resolved peacefully.
A male and female were detained in connection with this incident and the woman has since been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh after taking ill.
All of those who were inside the property have now left and are being assisted by police and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
