Portobello Amateur Swimming Club will this weekend play host to the British Water Polo League, which features the top 8 club sides in Great Britain.

Portobello, who won the British Championships earlier in the year, are looking to finish in the top five following their promotion to the top division at the end of last season.  A top five finish would result in the club competing in the Super5s league for the deciding part of the season. Portobello have already made a promising start to their campaign, winning two out of three matches on the opening weekend.

However, the contenders for the Super 5s became a little clearer after the weekend at Ponds Forge, Sheffield (29/30 September) when two more victories for champions Lancaster and City of Manchester secured their places. Cheltenham are also safe, but there is plenty still to play for when all teams, including Portobello, play their remaining divisional matches in an exciting finale at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on 6th-7th October 2012.

The League makes its first visit to Scotland this weekend and entry is free.
