The NSPCC’s annual Letter from Santa fundraising campaign is back. The children’s charity is calling on local people and businesses in Edinburgh to become ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ by helping to promote the festive fundraising initiative.
Letter from Santa gives family and friends the chance to send someone special a magical letter from Santa for a suggested donation of £5.
Each letter is personalised with the child’s name and confirms that Santa and his sleigh will be stopping off in their home town to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. There is also a chance to order an extra special letter for newborns, with a Baby’s First Christmas letter.
Last year Letter from Santa raised £1.3m towards continuing the vital services the NSPCC offers children, young people and families in Scotland and across the UK . This year the charity hopes to raise £1.6m and is appealing to local people and business owners to help them reach this target by distributing packs of application postcards in their local communities.
Susie Barron, NSPCC community fundraising manager for Scotland said: “We’re looking for local people to sign up to become Santa’s Little Helpers and help us spread the word about Letter from Santa. Business owners could help us by displaying the postcards in their premises, whilst individual helpers can give the postcards to friends, relatives or work colleagues. You could even distribute them to local businesses like garden centres and coffee shops, or anywhere you are likely to find parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who would love to send a Letter from Santa to a child and support NSPCC Scotland.”
Money raised in Scotland by Letter from Santa will support the NSPCC’s services for children and young people in Scotland . These include ChildLine, the confidential and free 24 hour helpline for children and young people.
