Another new festival is being launched in Edinburgh next week. The event is called Previously...and it is a two week celebration of Scotland’s history in the weeks just before St Andrew’s Day. From striptease to immigrants and the Saltire Society, there are lots of events across a wide range of interests and venues. We quite fancy the Sir Ernest Shackleton supper….

The 19th French Film Festival (9 November – 7 December) starts today and aims to present an unparalleled selection of le cinéma français in leading cinemas around the country. There are many different genres to suit all tastes and impressive performances from an array of established stellar names and emerging talents.

STV Local report that applications for the Dream Fund must be made by 2 December 2011 by any charities wanting a share of the £300,000 on offer for community projects. But the People’s Postcode also awards grants of under £2,000 each month to small organisations which are not registered charities, and this month’s deadline is this Friday.

Tollcross Community Council meet tonight at 7.15 pm in Tollcross Community Centre, 117 Fountainbridge.

Aunty Emily will be well known to many Edinburgh Tweeters, but may not be as well known to the rest of you. She has conducted a charming interview with the hugely amusing Alan McIntosh who, in his own words, ‘helps’ on The Broughton Spurtle. Emily Dodd is a freelance poet, author, singer, entertainer, scientist, writer, blogger and environmentalist. (We are sure that we have left some things out of this list so please add any more below in our comments section!)
