Police in Midlothian are appealing for information after a man was assaulted and robbed in Bonnyrigg in the early hours of Saturday morning (July 23).
The 35-year-old victim was walking his dog in Sherwood Crescent sometime between 3.30am and 5am when he was approached by four men, one of whom threatened him with a knife.
He was then punched and kicked to the ground, before the suspects went through his pockets and made off with cash.
The victim suffered cuts and bruising in the attack, and had to go the ERI, where he received stitches to his upper lip.
The main suspect, who threatened the victim with a knife, is described as white, around 35-years-old, with short dark hair, and wearing a dark hooded top. There are no descriptions available of the other suspects.
A police spokesman said: “This was an unprovoked and violent attack, which resulted in the victim having to seek treatment at hospital for facial injuries.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw the four suspects in the Sherwood Crescent area of Bonnyrigg around the time of the attack to contact police immediately.
“Anyone else who has any other information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch.”
