Edinburgh oil firm, Cairn Energy, have won an injunction against Greenpeace to stop the activists interfering with their exploration work in Greenland reports The Herald.

Are we set for another round of electioneering this year in Edinburgh? Councillor Andrew Burns certainly thinks so, and has said so on his blog. According to Burns, another councillor, the SNP member for the City Centre, David Beckett,  is leaving Edinburgh to go to Harvard. This will leave the City Centre ward seat vacant, and will trigger an interesting by-election. The council is currently a coalition between the 12 SNP councillors and the 17 Liberal Democrats.

And another councillor with a great up to date blog, Cameron Rose, has flagged up the sale of the Dick Vet. The veterinary school is moving out of town, which is of course a major change for the institution.

This weekend you can have a wee look at the Archivists’ Garden behind Register House as part of Scotland’s Gardens Scheme as highlighted by The Scotsman.

The Fringe booking office opens today so you can get tickets to one of the 2,542 shows which are going to be performed in August.

And later today National Grid is pleased to be hosting ‘Urban Adventure’ at The Forthquarter Park off Waterfront Broadway, Granton between 1pm – 4pm.

This free to enter event is organised by Active Schools and Pilton Community Health Project.

Aimed at nursery and primary school aged children and their families the organisers have worked hard to ensure that there will be lots of games, sports and fun activities, demonstrations and information stalls on offer.

Highlights include a visit from the Fire Brigade, Football, Rugby, Bouncy Castle, Zumba, African drumming and music, bugs and beasty hunts, face painting, cycling, orienteering, tug of war and loads more!

Refreshment is available  – Come along and have some fun – but please note that all children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.
