Social Innovation Camp brings together the best of the UK’s software developers and designers with those at the sharp end of social problems. Over a weekend in June they’ll build some web-based solutions to social problems at Informatics Ventures in Edinburgh.
The team are currently gathering ideas from across Scotland and Edinburgh’s centre for social innovation, The Melting Pot, is hosting an ideas workshop on Monday 16 May from 6pm to 8pm.
Glen Mehn of Social Innovation Camp said, “The workshop will be an evening of thinking about how we can use technology to tackle social problems, and an opportunity to find out more about SI Camp. For SI Camp 2011 we’re particularly interested in ideas which use technology to combat social isolation.”
Claire Carpenter of The Melting Pot said, “With so many innovative projects working out of The Melting Pot, we’re very excited to be helping SI Camp find the next wave of social innovators. We’ll be supporting the winning project from the June weekend with free membership of The Melting Pot, providing access to work and meeting space and to a community of social innovators who’ll be a great resource for the winning team as they develop their idea.”
