As Edinburgh gears up for the Easter holiday period and one reportedly very special wedding – most facilities and buildings are operating as normal.

The Easter holiday falls on 22 April and 25 April this year, with the Royal Wedding on Friday 29 April.

There are also public holidays in Edinburgh on Monday 2 May and Monday 23 May.

Arrangements are as follows:

Council offices

Council offices will be shut on Good Friday, Easter Monday and 29 April but open on 2 May and 23 May.

Waste services

Residents are being urged to put out their bins as normal during the Easter holiday period as waste services will be operating as normal on all April and May bank holidays.

Libraries

All libraries will be closed on 22, 25 and 29 April. However, during the Easter weekend, libraries will be open on Saturday 23 April and Sunday 24 April if they are usually open on a Sunday. All libraries will be open on 2 and 23 May.

Museums and art galleries

All Museums and Galleries will be open as usual.

There will be no parking enforcement on Easter Monday but parking attendants will be operating as normal on all other April and May Bank Holidays.

Schools and community centres

Schools are on holiday until 26 April and are closed on 29 April. Schools will also be closed on 2 May and 23 May.

Community Centres will be closed on all public holidays.

Health and Social Care

Social Care Direct is open 24/7.
