At 5.30hrs on Wednesday 7th July, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident at a golf club at Gunsgreen Hill in Eyemouth. There was a fire located in a green keeper’s shed. Seven fire service appliances attended the fire from the local area and Edinburgh.

During the firefighting operation a 44 year old firefighter from the Scottish Borders was injured when a part of the building structure collapsed. He was attended to by the Scottish Ambulance Service and was airlifted to the ERI.

The firefighter injured during the incident is currently receiving further treatment for serious back injuries at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.

There is an ongoing investigation into the accident and cause of the fire.
