The airport announced last week that they are to introduce a new charge from 1 October for motorists on the kiss and fly run.
Under the measure motorists will be charged £1 for 10 minutes and there may be a penalty imposed after that. Taxis may be subjected to the tariff too.
No surprise then that Ryanair supports the charge. The airline may yet introduce standing room only flights or charge you for using the bathroom facilities on the plane.
The charge is a worry for Age Concern and other airlines are against it.
Anyone who has gone to Edinburgh airport to pick someone up will know that it is already a near impossibility. The traffic wardens (quite rightly) keep the traffic moving so that there are few stationary cars at any one time. At least that is what they are supposed to do. Of course they are a bit more lenient at some times than others. Part of the reason for this is the terrorism threat posed by cars near an airport building.
There are a few articles about the proposed charge on The Scotsman website. And some of the comments are quite amusing in themselves.
