Scotland’s first online national newspaper has finished second-equal with The Guardian in UK-wide awards celebrating the best of newspaper production.
Caledonian Mercury was shortlisted in the Digital News Service of the Year category of the Newspaper Awards, which have been on the go for 14 years and are held in association with trade title, Production Journal.
The Belfast Telegraph took the prize at the awards ceremony, which was held last night.
Said Stewart Kirkpatrick, editor of the Caledonian Mercury: “This is a great endorsement of a everything we have set out to achieve for a truly global Scottish news service”.
Caledonian Mercury has been on the go for barely three months.
