Scotland’s first online national newspaper has finished second-equal with The Guardian in UK-wide awards celebrating the best of newspaper production.

Caledonian Mercury was shortlisted in the Digital News Service of the Year category of the Newspaper Awards, which have been on the go for 14 years and are held in association with trade title, Production Journal.

The Belfast Telegraph took the prize at the awards ceremony, which was held last night.
