AFCON bound defender Jordan Obita claimed that the Hibs players need to believe in themselves a bit more after last night’s defeat at Ibrox.
The Gers ran out 1-0 winners on the night, with Emmanuel Fernandez’s first-half header proving to be the difference between the sides in the end.
Hibs had plenty of the ball and got into good positions, but lacked that killer instinct in-front of goal.
Speaking to Hibs TV, Obita shared his thoughts on the result and overall performance.
“In the first half, I thought we controlled the game, but we just didn’t have that quality in the final third to cause them enough problems.
“We competed really well, we pressed them them high but then they got their goal. In the second half, we needed more quality in the final third.
“We’re all disappointed in there at full time. I think we just need to believe in ourselves a bit more and add that final bit of quality in the final third.”
“There was a few sloppy touches or sloppy passes when it counted and that is what has cost us in the end. We need to make sure we put it right in our next game.
Obita will now head off to the Africa Cup of Nations – representing Uganda at the finals in Morocco.
“I head off for a few weeks now to join up with Uganda.
“I’m really looking forward to the AFCON, it will be my first major tournament – so it will be a really proud moment for both for me and my family.”
