Kai Golder’s journey from motor cycling grassroots to – hopefully – grand prix status has continued in 2025.
Earlier this year the Edinburgh Reporter noted how Kai, 11, from Dalkeith had won an astonishing 59 races from 59 starts across minimoto and “Supermoto Mini-GP” classes.
That dominance has continued with Kai claiming the MiniGP 160.50 class by 14 points, his record showing seven wins and two second places with three races unfinished to be crowned a GB champion using a slightly more powerful bike. His average speed was recorded at 68.9 mph!
Altogether Kai has now won 5 x Scottish championships and 1 x British championship since starting racing in 2021. That is in addition to 3 x Scottish minimoto titles from 2022-24 plus 2 x Scottish MiniGP titles in 2024-25.
Kai’s dad Kevin, himself a former racer, said: “No plans as of yet for next year but will be out in Spain practising over winter for the season ahead.
“Kai rode dirt bikes from the age of four before making the switch to race on tarmac aged six.
“Kai also loves the outdoors, playing football, mountain biking and (he) attends Muay Thai training regularly. “
