KUBA Café has opened at Edinburgh Printmakers. The all day menu will introduce a fusion of pan-African and Scottish culinary traditions.
- In the bright airy accessible space at Edinburgh Printmakers a new café is opened under the guidance of award-winning chef Babatunde Abifarin.
- It is intended that the café will host a programme of special events as well as providing private dining experiences.
- More than just a place to eat, KUBA is a vibrant celebration of culture, storytelling, and shared heritage—bringing together bold flavours, contemporary art, and inclusive design in a truly unique setting.
- Open from 10am from Tuesday to Sunday the café menu serves plated breakfasts, bowls including Ful Medames (Poached eggs or avocado, Egyptian butterbeans, onion, tomatoes, sourdough – £13.25 and Obe Ata Shakshuka (Fried eggs or avocado, spiced tomato sauce, peppers, sourdough – £13.50) to mouthwatering pancake stacks, chapati as well as a host of ‘On Toast’ options. From 12noon lunch options include salads like the Beetroot Carpaccio with beetroot, greens, feta, pistachio dukkah, pomegranate seeds, orange vinaigrette (£10.25), hot sandwiches including Spicy Merguez Sub (Homemade merguez, peppers, atarodo mayo, pickled red onion, cheddar £13.50) and baked sweet potatoes like Harissa Coconut (Harissa butterbeans, spiced tomato sauce, peppers, yoghurt, coconut flakes – £12.50).
- Looking out on a courtyard and community garden, this is a bright and spacious venue embedded in Edinburgh Printmakers home at Castle Mills, the former industrial space which features a striking selection of art on the walls available for purchase, with the adjoining galleries showcasing a programme of contemporary printmaking exhibitions.
- It is equipped with highchairs, and the seating areas have space for prams and wheelchairs, ensuring accessibility for all guests.

- Head chef and Culinary Director Babatunde Abifarin said: “Cooking much like printmaking is a creative art form that allows individuals to express themselves through various techniques and styles. Firstly both arts involve meticulous selection and combination of elements – ingredients in cooking and materials in printmaking to create a harmonious final product. Secondly, they require an understanding of technique; just as a printmaker must master methods like etching or screenprinting, a cook must perfect skills such as sauteing or baking to execute their vision. Finally presentation plays a crucial role in both disciplines. Chefs arrange dishes with artistic flair akin to how printmakers consider composition and balance in their prints.
