Over the past two days, City Centre Policing Unit officers have been carrying out dedicated enforcement activity targeting the illegal and unsafe use of e-bikes and e-scooters across Edinburgh.
The deployment, supported by two Road Policing bike officers on each day, delivered positive results
Officers stopped and spoke to 47 cyclists, seized six e-bikes and two e-scooters and charged seven people with various road traffic offences.
A police spokesperson said: ”As well as enforcement, there was plenty of positive engagement with members of the public, many of whom were supportive of the action and the work being carried out to improve road safety.
“We will continue to engage, educate and take action where necessary to help keep our roads and communities safer.”
