Plans have been lodged with East Lothian Council to operate a mobile snack van in a town centre parking space in Musselburgh.
Haddington-based businessman Lachezar Branchev has applied for permission to operate the van from a parking bay on the town’s Market Street, in between a car repair business and block of offices.
The application states that discussions with East Lothian Council’s roads services have suggested the pavement at the parking bay is wide enough for customers to queue outside the snack van.
And it says they were advised by officers to look for a site in the town centre which was closer to businesses rather than residential housing.
Musselburgh is East Lothian’s biggest town with a population of more than 21,000.
The van will sell burgers and hot dogs as well as hot and cold drinks and will operate without a generator using internal battery storage and solar panels.
The application says waste bins for customers will be placed next to the van during opening hours and removed at the end of each trading day.
The plans have been lodged on the East Lothian Council planning portal for views and comments.
