A man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday 15 September 2026 after a police officer was injured during a disturbance in Niddrie last night. 

Police including armed officers were called to Niddrie House Avenue around 8.50pm after reports of a man with a bladed weapon in the area. 

One officer was injured and taken to hospital. 

A man was arrested in connection with the incident and he was also taken to hospital. 

He has since been charged and will appear in court on Tuesday. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.50pm on Sunday, 13 September, 2026, we received a report of a man causing a disturbance in possession of a bladed weapon on Niddrie House Avenue, Edinburgh. 

“Officers, including firearms officers, attended and the man was traced and arrested in connection and subsequently taken to hospital. One officer was injured during the incident and was taken to hospital for assessment. No other injuries were reported. 

“The man has since been charged and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 15 September, 2026.”
