An application has been made for change of use on a barge from an office to bar/restaurant. The Barge 1502U is moored at The Shore and there are plans for a “new cantilevered decking for alfresco dining and a new seating area on the quayside”. 26/03088/FUL
Also at 46 Shore there is an application to change offices into seven short term let apartments. 26/03216/FUL
An application is on the Portobello/Craigmillar list for permission to put up a “post supported lectern” in landscape next to the Institute of Regeneration and Repair at 4 Little France Drive. This is a University of Edinburgh building. 26/03127/ADV
A battery energy storage system is planned for Kaimes Renewable Energy Park at Burdiehouse Square and a Proposal of Application Notice has been submitted. 26/03308/PAN There will be public consultation events on 2 and 30 September at 4pm to 7pm at Gracemount Leisure Centre, 22 Gracemount Drive EH16 6RN. (The applicant is requested to advertise this in the Edinburgh Evening News on two occasions.)

Open in new tab Any property owner seeking to build, improve or alter their home or commercial premises must have the correct consents. This begins with a planning application and usually progresses all the way to a completion certificate.
Some applications for large developments such as purpose built student accommodation have been referred to the government Reporter after refusal by the council. Alterations to some buildings may also need listed building consent which is dealt with simultaneously.
There is a class of alterations which are considered “permitted developments” and will not need any planning permission. There is more guidance here.
