And he is aiming to use Hibs as a platform to international football with the Republic of Ireland.
The 19-year-old joined Hibs this week on an initial season-long loan with the option to buy from English Premier League outfit Manchester United on Sunday.
Speaking to Hibs TV, the youngster said: “Last year, when I came here to Easter Road, I was shocked at the size of the Club, so thinking back to playing here last year played a big part in me coming here, as did the European competition, and hopefully, on Thursday night, we can qualify for the UEFA Conference League.
“I found it tough playing against such a technical football team, and I think I see myself fitting right into this team. I can dominate the ball and hopefully get us playing.
“I really enjoyed it [at St Mirren last season], and it was definitely the right decision for me to come up and play in Scotland.
“I think I suit the style of play up here, and I see Hibs being the next step in my journey in terms of that, so I’m here to do well, be successful and push for titles.
“I wanted to get out and play first-team football because I knew I could do the technical side, and I was a good tactical player to coach, but I also felt like physically I was ready to come and play in a first team, and I’m glad that’s the decision I took.
“I’m really excited to be here. I’ve been in training the last two days, and I’ve really enjoyed it.
“I’ve come here to play games, and with that, I know the expectation of Hibs.
“I know the expectation of the fans, so I want to come here, and I want to push for titles, whether that be the league title, the Scottish Cup, or the Premier Sports Cup, which we’re already in the quarter-final of.”
Devaney, who joined the Manchester United academy at the age of six and made his U18 debut aged just 15, impressed throughout his time with the Red Devils, where he captained almost every age group and was named Manchester United Youth Scholar of the Year in 2025.
Meanwhile, before joining the Hibs last week, he’d spent the 2026/27 pre-season with Michael Carrick’s first-team, which included an appearance and a goal against Rosenborg BK in July.
That meant having the opportunity to learn from some of the game’s top midfielders, including Manchester United’s club captain Fernandes.
He added: “I’ve always said to people that I’ve spoken to, that Manchester United’s probably the best academy in the world in terms of getting you right footballing-wise.
“They produce some top talents on the pitch, but I think everyone that you speak to will be able to speak so highly of how the players are as people as well, so in terms of that, United have been great for me.
“I’ve been lucky enough to captain a lot of the sides that I’ve played for, all the way from the U9s up to the U21s.
“But it’s something that I like to take in my stride, and I see myself as a bit of a leader, so I’d like to think I can bring that side of my game to Hibs as well.
“There’s nothing better than training with some of the best players in the world, and obviously I was lucky enough to play two games and get a goal as well in pre-season.
“Bruno Fernandes is obviously a big standout name. He’s such a good guy and is always happy to help with the younger lads, teaching them different techniques, so I’d definitely say he’s a massive one.”
Devaney has also represented the Republic of Ireland at U19 and U21 level and wants to use his time in Leith as a launchpad towards Heimir Hallgrímsson’s first-team set-up.
He said: “It’s always been a dream of mine as a kid to represent my country.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to do that at U19’s level and U21’s level, and I see myself as being ready to push up to that next level.
“Hopefully, I can use Hibs as a platform to really show myself.”
