Felix Passlack felt that Hibs deserved more out of the William Hill Premiership curtain-raiser against Motherwell yesterday.
HIbs fell behind following Lukas Fadinger’s first-half penalty, but levelled shortly after the restart with a spot-kick through Martin Boyle and then appeared most likely to win the game throughout the second half.
However, despite registering 15 shots, including a dramatic goal-line clearance by Martin Moorman, Hibs were hit with a late sucker punch when Ibrahim Said finished off a sweeping counter-attack to earn victory for the visitors.
And Passlack was left feeling that we were owed more for our second half performance.
“There’s obviously a big frustration in the dressing room, and I think we deserved more today,” Passlack told Hibs TV.
“The start of the second half was really good. We won the penalty and then we equalised and just tried to score a second goal, to be in the lead.
“But unfortunately we lost the ball in the middle of the park and conceded a counter-attack, and Motherwell have the quality to score.
“The fact we lost the game is a big disappointment.
“Obviously from Tuesday onwards, we just need to focus on the European game.”
Passlack and his teammates are looking to use the swift turnaround between fixtures to their benefit when Hibs host KF Shkëndija on Thursday night.
He added: “Our target is to have a good result in the first leg and go to North Macedonia and obviously win the second leg as well.
“We’re looking forward to this game. It’s a different competition, different game and different opponent.
“We have to make sure that we clear our minds in the next few days and then be ready for Thursday.”
