EDINBURGH will welcome back a family festival in 2027 as part of the Summer Sessions concert series, following a debut that drew 26,000 attendees over the weekend.

Heather on the Hill, an event founded by musician Nathan Evans and the duo SAINT PHNX, will return to the Royal Highland Centre on Saturday 28 August 2027.

The festival takes its name from a single off the founders’ collaborative Scottish folk-pop album, Angels’ Share.

Evans, a former postal worker who achieved widespread recognition in 2021 with his viral rendition of the sea shanty, Wellerman, partnered with Glaswegian brothers Stevie and Alan Jukes of SAINT PHNX to curate this new addition to the capital’s busy August calendar.

Their inaugural lineup featured main stage performances from the founders themselves, alongside homegrown acts like Skerryvore and Cammy Barnes.

Designed as a full day out for all ages, the event expanded beyond a traditional music gig to include a broad range of daytime entertainment.

The showground hosted performances by Ceilidh Kids and Artie’s Singing Kettle, alongside laughing yoga sessions, circus skills workshops, and a miniature version of the Royal Highland Show.

Organisers have confirmed that fans who attended the recent 2026 festival can access a ticket presale from 9am on Wednesday. General early bird tickets for the 2027 date will then go on sale at 9am on Friday.

Nathan Evans and the SAINT PHNX said: “Early bird tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am, at a special price. We can’t wait to do it all again!”
