The latest intake of Police Scotland recruits swore the oath of office at a formal ceremony in the organisation’s training headquarters, Tulliallan, today, Thursday, 16 July 2026.
The 169 probationers marked the start of their policing journey.
They will start deploying to communities on 16 December to continue their two-year probationer training programme.
T/Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Houston addressed the new recruits who were then issued with their warrant cards, granting them legal policing powers.
He said: “Taking on the responsibilities and duties of a police officer is a deeply considered decision and I thank our new recruits for stepping forward for a job like no other.
“They are signing up to a hugely rewarding and demanding career where people will turn to them for help, often in the most critical and vulnerable circumstances.
“When they deploy to communities they will uphold Police Scotland’s values of integrity, fairness, respect and a commitment to upholding human rights at all times.”
