A footpath around Holyrood Park will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists until 7 August for urgent electricity network repairs by Scottish Power.
The energy company announced that the Duddingston Low Road footpath, which runs below Arthur’s Seat near Craigmillar, is undergoing repairs by SP Energy Networks.
The works will repair an “underground cable fault,” with the path closed due to “the complex technical nature of the works.”
The diversion route will be via the Innocent Railway Path, with the closure and diversion in place until 7 August. Advisory warning signage has been put in place to make park users aware of the closure.
David Climie, SP Energy Networks’ district general manager for Edinburgh and the Borders said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience this essential footpath closure will cause while we complete emergency repairs works on our underground cable.
“We know Duddingston Low Road is a popular walking and cycling route, especially at this time of the year, but it’s vital we get in and complete the necessary repairs to ensure there is no impact on local power supplies.
“Our thanks in advance to all those using the route for their patience and understanding – we will complete the works and reopen the footpath as soon as it is safe to do so.”
