Children in Edinburgh aged 5-12 are being offered two free days of summer sports courtesy of Edinburgh Leisure.
The Go for Gold Sports Days are taking place at Meadowbank Sports Centre and Drumbrae Leisure Centre on July 30 and 31.
Children will be offered free hands-on sports sessions aimed to give them a chance to try a new sport, build confidence and remain active during the school holidays. The sessions will have activities inspired by the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, as Meadowbank is a previous venue.
Edinburgh Leisure is offering the Go for Gold sessions as part of sportscotland’s Summer of Sport 2026. The scheme is a nationwide effort to offer accessible sport and physical activity to all children regardless of their obstacles.
Sports development manager at Edinburgh Leisure, Angela McCowan believes that the initiative is a good opportunity to showcase what the charity can offer. She said: “Go for Gold is a brilliant opportunity for children to get into the spirit of sport this summer, try something new and have fun in a welcoming environment.
“With activities inspired by Commonwealth Games sports, the events are a great way for children to enjoy being active, discover new interests and see what’s on offer at Edinburgh Leisure.”
