Police have cordoned off an area near Cables Wynd House following an incident last night Sunday 5 July 2026.
A large number of officers attended the scene including forensic staff and have been working through the night,
The nature of the incident has not been released at this time but more details are expected soon.
A number of buses have been diverted.
A local resident said: “About 11 o’clock last night I heard a lot of sirens and noise. Ambulances and police were there. It was raining at the time and people on one of the buses on Henderson Street were made to stay on the bus. Not great when you are just trying to get home.”
A Lothian Buses spokes person said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Henderson Street, The Shore and Commercial Street and are instead diverted via Great junction Street and North Junction Street northbound only until further notice.”
Services 16, 17, 35, 36, N16, and N35 have all been diverted via Great Junction Street and North Junction Street in both directions until further notice.
The service 34 has been diverted via Great Junction Street and North Junction Street for the northbound route only until further notice.
Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
