Hearts midfielder, Cammy Devlin, and Livingston striker, Tete Yengi, have made the cut for inclusion in the 26-strong Australian squad for the World Cup which starts in Mexico, Canada and the US on June 11.
Devlin has enjoyed a strong season as Hearts just missed out on the league title but Yengi (pictured by Nigel Duncan) was loaned to a Japanese J1 League outfit, Machida Zelvia, in January as his club tried desperately to beat the drop from the William Hill Premiership. They failed.
However, the 25-year-old embraced the move and fired six goals in 23 appearances for his loan club who finished third in Japan’s East Region and reached the final of the Asian Champions League.
But Martin Boyle, who has 41 caps, has been omitted by Tony Popovic, a devastating blow for the Hibs striker.
Aberdeen-born centre-half Harry Souttar, brother of Scotland central defender, John, a former Hearts player now with Rangers, is also included in the squad. He plays for Leicester City.
Popovic said: “Some difficult decisions had to be made.”
Among them was the omission of former Hearts defender Kye Rowles who plays for American outfit, D C United.
