Junior tennis players Richard Winarski and Lily Dobson-Sun were the winners of the East of Scotland’s 8 & Under Championships which took place at George Watson’s College.
The successful pair, who won the boys and girls events respectively, are two of many enthusiastic young players belonging to “upstart” tennis club Edinburgh which puts a strong emphasis on player development and learning to compete.
At the East of Scotland Open, Richard and Lily encountered many other boys and girls from Edinburgh and further afield to achieve their win.
Michael Millar who holds a dual role as lead coach of both Edinburgh Tennis and the 11U East of Scotland County Programme, said: “It’s been a real pleasure working with both Richard and Lily every week individually and in group lessons. They are such energetic and coachable young players. Winning the county championships is such a great reward for all their hard work and diligence in their training. I
hope they continue to grow as people and players over the coming years!”
