Detectives have reported a man to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with seven incidents of theft by housebreaking and three of attempted theft by housebreaking. 

The incidents took place in February and March 2026 at a variety of business premises including post offices, convenience stores and bookmakers in Midlothian, West Lothian, Edinburgh, and Forth Valley.  

There were two instances of residential break-ins to properties in Linlithgow and Bathgate. 

The man has been reported in connection with the incident at The Centre, Livingston, which happened at around 12.15am on Tuesday, 17 March, 2026.  

Two vehicles approached the east entrance before one car proceeded to crash through bollards and a window. 

The man has also been reported in connection with theft of a vehicle and wilful fire-raising.  

Detective Sergeant John Irvine said: “We are committed to tackling acquisitive crime and we know these incidents were concerning to residents in the local areas.  

“Our enquiries continue into other such offences, and I’d like to thank those members of the public who came forward following our earlier appeals for information.”
