David Gray praised his players for their overall performance in yesterday’s impressive 3-1 victory away at Falkirk.
Josh Campbell bagged a brace before Jordan Obita fired home a third in an excellent first-half display.
Ben Broggio pulled one back for the hosts midway through the second period, but Hibs saw out the game comfortably to claim a vital three points in the quest for European football.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the game, Gray reserved special praise for his players and the way they approached the game.
“It was a huge win and a brilliant performance from the players in terms of what I asked them to do.
“We knew coming here would be difficult – it’s a tough pitch, and there was a certain way we felt we needed to play to give ourselves the best chance.
“The players carried that out really well, especially in the first half. We were clinical when we needed to be, and scoring three goals before half-time was fantastic.
“In the second half, I thought we were professional in the way we managed the game.
“We’re disappointed with the goal we conceded because it gave them hope, but overall, we saw the game out really strongly.
“As you said, the most important thing is that we did our job today and came away with three points.”
The result moves Hibs five points clear of Falkirk, and four points behind Motherwell.
“I thought our play was really sharp. We moved the ball well, switched it effectively and played the percentages at times because the surface lends itself to that type of game.
“The players were under pressure today after the last three results and not picking up any points despite the effort that’s gone into those performances.
“I’ve spoken a lot to the players about that. We haven’t got the rewards we felt we deserved over the last few games – some of that has been self-inflicted, and we know that – but we’re all in this together, and we knew we had to give a strong account of ourselves today. I’m delighted for the players because they feel they deserve that win.
“As I said, though, nothing has been achieved yet. It’s still tight, and there are two games to go. We know the teams behind us are still there and pushing.
“We won’t stop. We’ll keep looking forward because there’s still a big opportunity in front of us. We’ve done our job today by moving three points closer to Motherwell, and now the focus immediately turns to Rangers.
“It’s another really difficult place to go, but the mentality has to be to go there, give everything we’ve got and try to take another three points.”
Gray singled out Josh Campbell’s individual contribution as crucial to the victory – with the Hibs midfielder scoring a doubleon his first start since December 2025.
“We had real energy in midfield with Josh Campbell and pace at the top end of the pitch, which allowed us to test them in behind. That gave us a real threat, and from there we managed the game strongly.
“Josh was excellent, and I’m delighted for him on a personal level.
“Naturally, he’ll have been frustrated with the amount of game time he’s had recently, but he’s someone I’ve always had a lot of faith in.
“He fully deserves the credit he’ll get for that performance because the way we played suited him perfectly.
“He arrived in the box, he was a constant aerial threat, and that’s something he’s shown throughout his career. On a personal level, I’m really pleased for him.”
