Tim Wallace is enjoying being part of the NHL Alumni experience which ends at Murrayfield on Sunday after three well-attended games.
The former Nottingham Panthers and Milton Keynes Lightning head coach is not clear yet where his future lies, but he is part of Team USA and he has a solid pedigree.
Wallace, who was born in Anchorage in Alaska, logged around 100 games for top clubs including Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes.
The 6ft 1in centre or right-wing, who has also iced for Sheffield Steeers, has pulled on his skates for the first time in two seasons to be part of the action at the famous, Olympic-sized icepad at Murrayfield, and his body might not be in the shape he once was.
However, Wallace and the other players who are here for the games which are packing in the crowds who are witnessing some quality plays and slick skills. The audience includes some newcomers to the sport.
Wallace hopes that the action showcases ice hockey and the player said: “The passing is still there from these guys. We’re hockey players, competitive and that’s how these guys made it in the sport.”
So, if you have missed the action so far your final chance to see some top players is on Sunday, face-off 5.30pm and fans from several Scottish teams have been seen watching the action.
Players from Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars are featuring the the series, incidentally.
