Zac Sapsford netted from the penalty spot three minutes into second-half injury time to earn Dundee United a come from behind victory over bottom club Livingston.
It was the last kick of the game at the CalForth Construction Arena and yet another body blow for the West Lothian men who led 2-1 thanks to a double from Lewis Smith but lost goals after 75 minutes and 93 minutes.
Marvin Bartley, Livingston’s manager, admitted to the club’s social media: “That was a really tough one, especially with the manner of the goals we conceded.”
The ex-Hibs midfielder (pictured) said stern words were exchanged at half-time and tactical changes made. He added: “I was happy with the reaction but if you concede three goals away from home it is almost impossible to get anything out of games.”
The players, he added, were hurting and so are the staff after the 3-2 reverse.
Had the Lions held on it would have been their first win since beating Falkirk on August 9. Will Ferry opened the scoring for United after 19 minutes but Smith struck two goals in four second-half minutes, after 49 and 53 minutes to be precise, only for Krisztias Keresztes and Sapsford to earn the points for the home side.
The statistics indicate that Livingston had 49 per cent of possession against 50 per cent for United and had 14 shots against 15 from their rivals.
The Lions are on 16 points with second-bottom Kilmarnock on 28 and St Mirren have 30 with only five games remaining.
Jim Goodwin, the Tayside team’s manager, said: “I think we probably stole the points in the end.”
