The family funeral of Hibs legend Alex Cropley will take place tomorrow afternoon, (Wednesday 15 April 2026) with the hearse set to pass by Easter Road Stadium at 1:20pm to allow members of the public and Hibs supporters to pay their respects.
Alex who was born in Aldershot but raised in Edinburgh, began his career at Easter Road in 1968 and made 199 appearances in a six-year spell, scoring 49 goals.
He was a key part of the famous ‘Turnbull’s Tornadoes’ Hibs side that won the League Cup in 1972 and three weeks later scored in the famous 7-0 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.
A member of the Hibs hall of fame, he won his two Scotland caps during his time in Leith before joining Arsenal in 1974 for £150,000.
He moved on to Aston Villa two years later, winning the English League Cup with the Midlands club, and had brief spells with Newcastle United, Toronto Blizzard and Portsmouth before retiring at age 31 after struggling with injuries.
