The firm CWP Energy based in Edinburgh has delivered £11 million in community funding in the past quarter century, demonstrating its commitment to sharing the benefits of renewable projects.
The funding has helped improve local infrastructure and community facilities, as well as providing funds for environmental projects, education programmes and skills development opportunities.
Latest estimates are that renewable projects could produce around £500 million of community funding in the next decade. The sector views this as an opportunity to not only host projects in mainly rural communities but also share the benefits with them.
Sarah Wood, Marketing Manager, who works closely with community funding initiatives, emphasised the importance of this connection between energy and local impact.
