Warren O’Hora was left frustrated after Hibs failed to capitalise on a ‘good performance’ against Livingston at Easter Road on Saturday afternoon.
The match ended in a goalless draw as Hibs were unable to find the breakthrough despite controlling the game against the resilient visitors.
While David Gray’s men enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and attempted over 20 shots on goal, Marvin Bartley’s side sat deep and held on valiantly to shares the points in Leith.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the ‘frustrating’ encounter, centre-back O’Hora said the squad will quickly pick themselves back up from the game and are looking ahead to the next match.
“I think frustrating is probably the word to use. We’re definitely frustrated in that dressing room after. Livi really frustrated us throughout the game; they sat deep, made it difficult for us.
“We did get in good positions, we had a lot of chances. Ultimately, this whole football game is about goals. It’s about not conceding goals and scoring them, and it’s something that we didn’t do today. Of course, we took a clean sheet. We’ll take the positives from that.
“I don’t think the performance was bad. I just think we missed that last bit of pure quality just to put the ball in the net. And that’s not to put blame on the strikers and forwards, I don’t want to come across like that. That’s from everybody.
“Obviously, I’ve had a couple of chances where I can probably do better, like the header in the first half, and other individuals had some chances that they might do better with on another day.
“Football is like that, it happens, and we can’t be doom and gloom about that. We’ve got a big week coming up, a lot to play for. We’ll work hard, like we always have been, because football can change very quickly.”
Hibs next fixture is against fourth-place Motherwell in a crucial clash next weekend at Fir Park, and the 26-year-old defender reveals the team will swiftly dust themselves down and go again after taking important learnings from this afternoon’s stalemate.
“We’ll analyse it like we do any game. We’ll see how we can get better. We’ll take the positives, see what we can keep doing to other teams, and see how we can do better. Can we get into those areas more often? Can we maybe upgrade in some areas? That’s what we’ll do.
“The staff have been amazing for us, especially since I’ve come to the club. It’s something that we won’t be too worried about. Next week is a big game for us. We can go and win next week, and there’s still a lot to play for.
“I thought we had a good performance,” O’Hora added. “We hit the bar, we hit the post, we got one off the line. On another day, you probably have three there, but today wasn’t that.
“For a club of this size, no disrespect to Livingston, we are expected to win these games, and that was what today was about. The pressure was on us to win it, and we didn’t. Ultimately, that’s the way it is.
“Like I said, we won’t be too down about that. We’ll take what we can from it. We’ll move on to next week, and we’ll work hard this week coming up to it.”
