Enjoy Camera Obscura & World of Illusions with longer opening hours this month

The attraction on Castlehill, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, will be open longer throughout the February half term, giving visitors even more time to enjoy one of the city’s popular attractions for all ages.

Here’s how to avoid the crowds and get cheaper tickets:

From 8 – 27 February, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is open late every day, and will also open early during the busiest week. The intention is to give visitors the chance to enjoy the sights in a more relaxed manner. And early birds who book a slot before 9am online will save £4 per ticket.

There are more than 100 interactive, hands-on exhibits spread over five floors of the Outlook Tower, all just a stone’s throw from Edinburgh Castle. Spending half term at Camera Obscura is a treat for families, friends and curious minds, young and old.

Step into the spinning Vortex Tunnel, shrink in the Ames Room and get lost in the Mirror Maze, before snapping a selfie from the Rooftop Terrace with its panoramic views across the city. There are mind-bending optical illusions, a Giant Kaleidosphere, and immersive experiences on every floor.

There will be a live demonstration of the 173-year-old Camera Obscura, bringing Edinburgh’s streets to life without visitors having to take one step.

This February the attraction will be dressed for the season with Valentine’s-themed touches and Chinese New Year decorations, including love-inspired photo opportunities, lucky colours and a celebratory atmosphere, perfect for filling your camera roll.
